OPERATION STEPS FOR BASIC EXHAUST BACK PRESSURE TESTER
If there are two or more sensors, start testing at the one nearest the engine and proceed down stream.
-
Disconnect the sensor wires and remove the sensor.
-
Install the sensor adapter.
-
Push the hose end onto the adapter and make the pressure test. If hose end gets loose with age, use a hose clamp.
-
Start the engine. At idle, read the lower scale on the gauge. It should not be over 1-1/4PSI (0.09bar) or be in the red zone. If it is, stop the engine and locate the restriction, and correct it.
-
If the reading at idle is not red zone on the lower scale, rev-up the engine to 2500 RPM. If the reading is in red zone 3PSI,(21bar) then is a restricted exhaust system. Repair Restriction.
-
If the vehicle has a Y-PIPE with converters on both sides, a reading must be taken ahead of both converters.
-
If the vehicle has a converters in series, testing for restrictions of both converters is necessary.
-
If the vehicle has a dual exhaust system each side must be checked.
Warmly Reminder
The pressure gauge is checked and calibrated to ensure accurate test results.

If the meter pointer is not in the initial state "0", the meter may have been affected during transportation.
-
You can remove the case and adjust the pointer to "0", this will not affect the test results.
